As a non-profit organization, the Virginia Gators of Harrisonburg (Valley Area Swim Team) desires to positively impact the community and foster a life-long love of swimming in its participants. We are pleased that we can offer both full and partial financial assistance for membership dues and clinic fees, however financial assistance granted may not include costs associated with registration fees, meet fees, USA Swimming registration, or other charges.
In addition, Virginia Swimming offers an Outreach Membership program which additionally provides elibigle families a discounted USA Swimming regsitration as well as reimbursement for meet fees. We are happy to assist in setting up these benefits.
Our financial assistance program is designed to fit each family’s financial situation. Please understand the scholarship funds are limited. No applicant is guaranteed to receive scholarship funds. Any award of scholarship funds will be based upon the application and the availability of funds on a first-come first-serve basis.

To apply for financial assistance, the following information may be required:
- Completed Financial Assistance Application with current information.
- Documentation reflecting your current financial position that you would like to provide, e.g. unemployment pay stub, proof of Medicaid qualification, indication that your child qualifies for federally funded lunch programs at school, disability check stub, indication that family receives food stamps.
- Any other relevant information you would like to provide to assist with the application. (Optional)
Unless all documention is submitted, applications will not be considered. Any applications for financial assistance and all corresponding documentation will be held in confidence. Applications will be reviewed and approved in order received.
Financial assistance is granted per season (September-July). Applications may be made at any time during the season, but will need to be resubmitted for consideration prior to starting another season.
