ATHLETE PROTECTION TRAINING (18+)

MANDATORY TRAINING FOR ALL 18+ ATHLETES

All athletes who are 18 years of age or older are required to complete the SafeSport™ Athlete Protection Training, provided free of charge through the USA Swimming hub. This class, or refresher classes, must be renewed annually. 

All Gator swimmers are currently registered under their parents accounts and will need to set up their own login and password. Be sure to use an email that is not the same as the parent account. If you need your swimmer's USA Swimming ID, please email hburggators@gmail.com. 

Once swimmers have created an account, they need to take the initial course, "Athlete Protection Training: SafeSport TM Trained core course." Athletes may take this training 60 days before their 18th birthday, but it will require parent acknowledgement as the swimmer is under the age of 18. All courses must be completed by the swimmer's 18th birthday or they are ineligible to swim in practices or meets until completed.

There are only four courses that will satisfy the Athlete Protection Training requirement for membership (see above image). Those four courses are the SafeSport™ Trained Core Course, Refresher 1, Refresher 2, and Refresher 3. These courses are located in Education / Course Catalog / Athletes / 18+ Requirements. DO NOT take the course labeled for adult athletes, as it will not count toward Safe Sport certification.

Once the course is completed, the records will be updated within 24 hours. All APT classes expire 12 months after course completion.
