Virginia Swimming - 2020 Senior Championships

Eight swimmers from the Harrisonburg Gators were able to compete in this year's Virginia Swimming Senior Championships hosted in Richmond Virginia early this March. Sarah Arnold, Mia Constantin, Ryan Deavers, Zoe Deeble, Aiden Dupuis, Zachary Erb, Nathan Smith, Eliza Thompson all had solid swims throughout the competition. The Gators were looking forward to finishing out the rest of this championship season strong. Unfortunately, the season has been cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Highlights: Sarah Arnold was able to improve on her 100 yd backstroke as well as her 100 yd freestyle time. Mia Constantin was able to improve on 3 out of her 4 events. Aiden Dupuis was able to crank out time improvements for the 100 yd fly, 100 yd free, as well as the 200 yd free. Nathan Smith was able to improve on his 100 yd Backstroke as well as his 200 yd backstroke with a whopping 4.5 second time improvement in this event. Eliza Thompson was able to get a new best time for her 50 yd free.

STAR: Zachary Erb swam incredible with time improvements in all 6 of his events. Zach achieved the 2020 Future Championships time standards for both of his Breastroke events. He swam the 100 yd Breastroke in 58.32 (2.09 second improvement) and swam the 200 yd Breastroke with the time of 2:07.01 (4.76 second improvement). He also had solid drops in the 100 yd back (1.38 seconds improvement) and 200 yd IM (2.32 second improvement).

We are beginning to see results from the amount of hardwork and determination that these swimmers display day in and day out during practices. It is heartbreaking to have the short course season cut short so abruptly. The Gators will be ready to work their tails off once they are able to resume their training! GO GATORS!
