2022 Cavalier Winer Invitational | Short Course From January 21-23, fifty-six of our swimmers traveled to Charlottesville for the 2022 Cavalier Winter Invitational - a semi-local meet the weather thankfully cooperated with! Our team swam a total of 270 events over the course of two days and one distance session; twenty-five of these races were first time swims, and 124 were best times. As our swimmers compete, it is alway encouraging to see time drops in events and a progression toward various time standards. When we share meet wrap-ups, we list the different motivational time standards swimmers have achieved: B, BB, A, AA, AAA, and AAAA. Dropping a 1/100th or 1/10th of a second counts and is progress toward the next cut. Each and every achievement is a milestone! 2022 Gator Winter Splash | Short Course From January 8-9, seventy-three of our swimmers welcomed the Virginia Gators of Charlottesville, Swim RVA Rapids, and the SMAC Marlins to Harrisonburg for the 2022 Gator Winter Splash - an amazing turnout for our team! This was a short course meet held at JMU's Godwin Hall. Our team swam a total of 390 events over the course of two days; forty of these races were first time swims, and 161 were best times. 2021 SMAC Fall Classic | Short Course From November 20-21, forty-five of 14/under swimmers made the short trip to Waynesboro, VA for the 2021 SMAC Fall Classic - a good turnout for this age group. This was a short course meet held at the Waynesboro YMCA. Our team swam a total of 238 events over the course of three days; forty of these races were first time swims, and 115 were best times. Five of our Harrisonburg Gator swimmers were named as part of 2021 Virginia Swimming Long Course All Star Team: Lila Gorby, James Hewitt, Molly Beckwith, Kaleb Erb, and Zachary Erb. To qualify for the Virginia Swimming All Star Team, swimmers must finish the season with one of the top 5 fastest times in the LSC in any event in their age group. Two of our swimmers, James Hewitt and Zachary Erb, also qualified for the 2021 Virginia Swimming Short Course All Star Team. Congratulations to these five!
